Shoulder Impingement

Repeated overhead movements of the arm can cause the rotator cuff to come into contact with the outer edge of the shoulder blade near the attachment of the collarbone (known as the Acromion. This can lead to inflammation and swelling of the rotator cuff causing a secondary condition called tendonitis. The swollen rotator cuff can become pinched or impinged under the acromion.
