Dr. Neil S. Aguilo, DC
Dr. Neil, as he likes to be called, has been practicing chiropractic since April 2001. After graduating from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in Whittier, CA, he immediately began working for a Chiropractic & Sports Medicine clinic in Redondo Beach. While there, he learned to combine soft tissue therapy techniques with conservative chiropractic care and exercise rehabilitation, producing an effective approach to health care.
Philosophy
"Everyone at one point or another seems to ask what my basic philosophy is. I have recently tried to put it into words and the best that I can come up with is the following:"
"I believe that the human body is similar to a machine and that all parts are dependant on one another to properly function in a safe and efficient way. If a problem develops with one part (ie. a joint, a muscle, a tendon, etc.) the body will try to compensate and continue to operate all be it at a reduced or inefficient manner. Since muscles anchor to bones, and joints move via muscular contractions, you cannot have a problem in the joint or muscle without affecting the other. Therefore, treatment to both the joint (ie. adjusting a subluxation) and the muscle (via soft tissue therapy for relaxation, healing, etc.) should be performed in tandem with each visit to be complete."
"If your primary complaint is caused by a subluxation, certain muscle groups will tighten due to a contracting muscle or muscles (most often this is the direction the bone subluxated to) and the opposite muscle or muscles will be stretched and appear to be tight as well (most often this is the direction the bone subluxated away from)."
"If your primary complaint is caused by an injury to a muscle or other soft tissue, the body's first repsonse is to limit movement of the area. This is accomplished by contracting the muscles of the joint and is termed "guarding" and is one of the ways the body protects injured areas. This guarding muscle places a pulling force on a bone, and if the force is strong enough or is prolonged for long periods of time, can lead to a subluxation."
"In both cases, just treating one, either the joint via an adjustment or the muscle via soft tissue therapy, may still allow the other untreated subluxation or muscle, to continue to disrupt the body's function leading to a return of the original complaint."
"In fact, I am so confident in my approach that if you notice NO IMPROVEMENT following your 1st visit, your
visit is FREE."
